Executve Director's Message

“ENTREPRENUERSHIP IS THE REAL STIMULUS PACKAGE.”

Dear Friends,

We have hit the ground running in the second quarter despite all the “doom and gloom”
reports from pundits and talking heads. There is so much action around the Federal
Stimulus Package that NCAABA couldn’t help but take a leadership role in becoming a
resource for our minority business alliance organizations with information in private and
public contracting.

Through our work the past couple weeks as we’ve been in dialogue with the Obama
Administration and Corporate America about the state of small business, I still truly believe that entrepreneurship is the real Stimulus Package. Without the collective action of all W/MBEs and organizations throughout the country, no economic stimulus package or Recovery Act will get us out of this mess better than the convictions, creativity and
perseverance of the small business owner and their community leaders.

We’re so grateful to have new alliance partners, which includes: the MBE Unity Group in
Washington D.C., led by Tony Robinson, President of the Minority Business Roundtable; The Black Economic Council led by Len Cantey, President; and The Indus Entrepreneur Network (TiE), Silicon Valley Chapter. I had the pleasure of meeting with leaders of TiE this week, which is a South Asian organization with 53 chapters globally. Gautam Thockchom who is Registration Chair for TiE’s annual global conference called TiECon 2009, was so kind to extend special admission discount for NCAABA members and friends.

Another great event that NCAABA had the pleasure of attending was the Greenlining Event in Los Angeles, which was held at Our Lady of Angels Cathedral on Friday April 3rd. The introduction of their new Executive Director, Orson Aguilar, reminded me of how important it is for our organizations to continue passing the torch to younger generations so that we can fulfill the legacy of the brave leaders that have come before us. To learn more about Orson and the Greenlining Institute’s initiatives under his leadership, please visit their website.

We are very excited to finally launch the Virtual ABC website to celebrate APA Heritage
Month and we will have new features, resources and information which we hope you will
use frequently as a tool to help you and your business and/or organization. We hope you will visit our site frequently as we continue to provide a voice for the Asian Pacific
American business community.

Warm Regards,
Jamie Borromeo
